The head of Germany's public health agency has said he is "very concerned" by rising infections in the country.
"We are in the middle of a rapidly developing pandemic," Lothar Wieler, head of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), told reporters.
Mr Wieler said Germans had become "negligent" and urged people to wear masks and respect social distancing and hygiene rules.

A Malaysian court on Tuesday sentenced Malaysia's former Prime Minister Najib Razak to 12 years in jail and fined him 210 million ringgit (49.40 million U.S. dollars) for abuse of power linked to a multi-billion-dollar financial scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) he founded.
The court also sentenced him to 10 years in jail on each of three charges of criminal breach of trust and three charges of money laundering for illegally receiving nearly 10 million U.S. dollars from former 1MDB unit SRC International.
马来西亚法院周二判处马来西亚前总理纳吉·拉扎克入狱12年，并罚款2.1亿林吉特（4,940万美元），罪名是滥用职权，并涉嫌他创立的国家基金马来西亚发展有限公司数十亿美元的金融丑闻。

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said he believes his country will no longer need to fight wars because its nuclear arsenal guarantees its safety, according to North Korean state media.
"With our reliable and effective self-defensive nuclear deterrent, there will be no more war on this earth, and our country's safety and future will be secured forever," Kim said in a speech, North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Tuesday.

China announced Tuesday the suspension of Hong Kong's extradition treaties with Canada, Australia, and the UK in response to the similar decisions by those countries, said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The three countries all expressed their concern over the newly enacted national security law for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) before declaring the suspension of their extradition treaties with Hong Kong.
