The second episode looks at how President Xi sees the relationship between the economy and the environment. Xi envisions a new model for human progress that calls for coordinated development on economic, political, cultural and ethical, social and ecological fronts. His "green is gold" philosophy is a core concept in China's ecological progress. It represents a break with the idea that economic growth and environmental protection are achieved at one another's expense. Instead, it recognizes that protecting the environment is an important path to economic development.
